Andy Newell was in mid-front of the lead pack when two skiers went down taking him with them. He was run over, kicked and stabbed before he was able to get up and race to the finish. He did the rest of his rounds, skied damn fast doing it. But the damage was done. He got 3 stitches after the race for a deep pole puncture wound. I'm sure the ski shaped bruises are coming in nice today.

Sara Renner takes the lead from Sweden.

Lindsay Williams hammering over the top.

A women's heat on a tight corner. Wagner is right on the back here in 5th position.

Beckie Scott.

The men crest the first hill. Koos is bib 4 mid-left screen.

Torin Koos (#4) looking calm and collected as he moves up along side Tobias.

Germany would not be beat. They have an increadible system of develpment and are able to take great care of their skiers. It shows.

Close one. Check out the crowd in this shot and in the one above it. If you are a ski fan you should have been here.
The story of the Canadian women, Dave Wood and the Canadian ski organization is impressive. These women did not get better results than our women did as juniors... but since that time they have been as dedicated to their training as their coach and the Canadian Ski Association has been to sticking with them and giving them every opportunity to succeed.
They of course did the hard part, the truely important part - they took advantage of the opportunity!
