Sara showed some serious fight, if you aren't stretching for it at the finish you aren't racing. In Fairbanks Wendy Wagner made it through two rounds and won the B-final by stretching for the line just like this. She herself said that she was out-skied in each of those races but won by stretching for it. Yesterday she said she lost out in a WC heat because she didn't stretch for the line. She ended up 21st...but would have made it through to another heat if she had commiteed to beating that skier. That is the real point, not the act of stretching for the line, but the belief that you deserve to win the race, that you can win the race, and the commitment to winning the race. Believe in yourself and commit to going as fast as you can in every race - doesn't matter if you are a mile ahead, tied for the win or even if you are a mile behind. There is nothing else you can do but go as fast as you can from where you are all the way until your toe crosses the line.
Again, Congratulations Sara and Beckie and to their support crew!

Having a good time after the races... there were many international pool table battles last night. A fun time was had... today it is back to business. (photo from www.competitiveimage.us)
