Tabor Dude!
The US Team has settled into their hotel here in Sestriere, Italy. Amidst the excitement and exhaustion of the World Cup, emerges a little character by the name of Tabor. \r\n \r\nTabor has not lost any time making friends at the cafeteria, in the hallways, and on the ski trails. He quickly remembered the different faces on the team and has picked out a couple of favorites that he likes to try to sit with at meals. We remember the first meal with the team and how Tabor had such an effect with his smiles and silliness that everyone was in laughter. Tabor brings out the best in everyone. At each meal he goes from chair to chair greeting his friends. He doesn’t just have friends on the U.S. Team but even has good friends on the Canadian Team. It won’t be long before he’ll have friends from every nation! Tabor has so many friends that it’s sometimes difficult getting him to eat his food. He usually sits down and eats two or three bites, declares he is full then, grabs his toy and he’s off to entertain the masses. \r\n \r\nFor the parents of this little boy, well, we’ve got to be honest that it’s amazing watching him interact with so many people. Not only does he make other people laugh but he is a constant bundle of joy in our own family life. His presence is what keeps us smiling and in good moods amidst the ever changing schedule of elite ski racing. Yes, there are difficult times but they are much outweighed by the times of fun and love. \r\n \r\nWe made do in the car, from Germany to Italy, for 9 hours by watching “Chicken Run” and taking a short nap or two. We spent countless hours looking for sheep, castles and anything else that might entertain a 3 year old mind for a couple of minutes at a time. With a little licorice and laughter we finally made it to the hotel. \r\n \r\nWe as a family have miraculously not had any signs of jet lag. We are sleeping about 9 hours a night and roughly 2 more in the afternoon. We have been enjoying Sestriere and Pragelato. Almost everyday we are getting out for a ski on the Olympic trails. A couple of us went and explored the Fort de Fenestrelle, a spectacular piece of architecture. There is construction all over the place but not very many people working. We have found the park, the toy motorcycles to ride, pizzeria’s, and most importantly the local church, Saint Edoardo. We enjoyed Mass on Sunday in Italian. \r\n \r\nWe are now anxiously awaiting our first crack this season at racing the world! It should be very exciting, so stay tuned. The first races are a 15k/30k duathalon on Saturday and a team classic sprint on Sunday. \r\n \r\nTo see more pictures of our time here in Italy copy the link below and enter it into your web browser. \r\n \r\nhttp://homepage.mac.com/dussaultskis/PhotoAlbum12.html \r\n \r\nCiao! \r\nThe Dussaultskis \r\n \r\n
