\r\nConditions for todays sprint were...interesting. There were strong winds, grapple (little hail-like snow ball "flakes") falling off and on all day which left the tracks alternately filled with snow and glazed over (prelim times were somewhat suspect for this reason as some skiers got a clear shot on fast tracks and others fought through partially filled in tracks).
\r\nNever-the-less the fastest skiers won. Lindsay Williams was strong all day and very impressive in the final and Torin Koos was absolutely outstanding in the final. Both skiers made their race on the steepest climb on the course which preceeds a long downhill back to the stadium. If you can break away and get enough room between you and the others on the up hill they will have a hard time catching you... but if you can't get a big gap, they'll suck you back in and have more speed coming into the last corner. Both Williams and Koos dropped the hammer on that hill and put enough daylight between themselves and the others to make it to the finish unchallenged.

\r\nSprinting is a tough event. We took lacates at the finish and after they cooled down. Lactates at the finish (of all 4 races they do in a sprint event) were between 13 and 17... if you're just sitting around it's probably like a 1... easy sking 1.5 to 2... high end aerobic work 4+... sprint racing, if you have the anaerobic capacity to produce a lot of lactate like good sprinters must, it will be 13+ and that hurts some. After the cool down our skiers are back down below 2... if you don't warm down it can still be around 4 the next day!
