Super Tour Soldier Hollow - Day 1

Super Tour Soldier Hollow- Day 1
\r\n
\r\nFinally the first of races day down at SoHo, after returning from West Yellowstone we have been preparing for these days coming up.
\r\n
\r\nAfter a couple of days snowing the warm weather returned to Utah, and the organizers had to shorten down the track to a 2.5 km loop. However, in this 2.5 km loop the conditions were perfect. Waxing with klister, a binder (Toko) Start Universal and Rossa made waxing pretty easy. All our skiers seemed to have excellent skis. The girls started first with Beckie Scott back on the Olympic arena, and this made it a pretty interesting race for all the American women. Beckie was looking strong as she was skiing her 2 laps and in the end she was half a minute ahead of Rebecca, who finished second. Kikkan, third, performed well after just being at altitude for 5 days.
\r\n
\r\nIn the men’s race Leif was looking for his revenge and Chris eager to win after doing well in WY. Chris took the lead right away in the 10km and held it for 8.5 of the 10k’s. Having a really hard time in the end he crossed the finish-line being number six. Leif seemed to pace himself well into this race and was skiing the last loop faster than anyone. Leif is definitely back on track, and will for sure be better than ever. James Southam, who has been training with us for some weeks this fall, was the strongest guy out there today. He was top five through the whole race and none could threaten him in the end.
\r\n
\r\nAndrew Newell and Torin Koos did not race to today, preparing for the sprint on Sunday.
