Super Tour Soldier Hollow - Sprint

Super Tour Soldier Hollow - Sprint
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nAfter not competing on Saturday both Torin and Andrew were anxious about getting into the sprint today. And for sure those guys did not let anyone down - Andrew winning the prelim and Torin finishing just 35 one-hundredths of a second behind - beating the third guy with almost 5 seconds. This was what we needed before going to Europe in January. We know that the level of sprinting in the World Cup real tough. If Andrew and Torin are going to qualify for the finals in Europe they will have to beat the second best in the US with that much. Doing a good qualifier has been our goal all the fall. Right now we feel we are on track since Torin and Andrew have been first and second in both the prelims in the Super Tour this season. And they have made the whole way through in the sprints finishing at the top of the podium.
\r\n
\r\nAlso Chris did qualify as eight and Leif as fourteenth. Leif felt tired and said himself that he not really got into the race when doing the quarterfinal. Chris was drafted by Chad Giese in that long downhill at SoHo, and did never catch up in the last hundred meters. Chris was exceptional in the B-final beating Zachary Simons, Colin Rodgers and Timothy Weston.
\r\n
\r\nIn the men’s finale- A Andrew, Torin, Chad Giese and Steven Scott were qualified. From the start Torin and Andrew were in command. Torin coming down the long downhill in the lead, Andrew drafting him and passing on the bridge, choosing the "A" track and finishing outstanding, wining the battle of SoHo just ahead of Torin. Chad was working really hard, almost keeping their pace and finishing third.
\r\n
\r\nIn the women’s race no one was threatening Beckie Scott. Kikkan Randall made Beckie work hard in the A-Finale, however there was no doubt who was going to win this event. Kikkan controlled all her heats and was just three seconds behind Scott in the qualifier. When Kikkan gets some more races it will be interesting to see her in the World Cup. Katie Ronsee, a junior skiing at University of Denver, was impressive and finished third ahead of Karin Camenisch. Hilary Patzer finished second in the b-finale
\r\n
\r\nRebecca Dussault did not race today. She decided to not to race to day, making sure to be rested for the long distance races coming up on Wednesday and Saturday.
