Muonio Race 2 - coming on up
“This was my best race in 11 months,” said Wendy Wagner of today’s Muonio skate race, “and one of my best skate races ever.” Wendy has been battling back into top form since suffering through an illness all last season. \r\nCarl Swenson also put in a solid effort to finish 8th in a tough field. Andrew Johnson also showed that he is on the mend from his back injury by finishing 33rd. \r\n \r\nIt was fun to see the improvement just from yesterday. Simply having put in a hard workout, gotten a few more of the bugs out of the system really helped the skiers come around for today. They skied with more energy and drive, looked spunkier, raced better and consequently placed better. \r\n \r\nLike yesterday we had no outcome goals, but simply wanted the skiers to execute a good race. They did that, and for where they’re at they also had some good results. \r\n \r\nTemperatures were just under freezing but were super cold with a steady wind and very high humidity – it was the coldest I’ve ever been for being only –2c. \r\nThe race was held on the same course as yesterday, conditions were good. \r\n \r\nThe Germans are obviously ready to go this year. World’s will be held in Oberstdorf, Germany in February. \r\n \r\n
