NORTH TIJUANA HILLS BASKETBALL LEAGUE
NORTH TIJUANA HILLS BASKETBALL LEAGUE: \r\n \r\nAs you have read, we are here in San Diego to complete a VO2 Max intensity block. Two weeks and eleven interval sessions later, we are all faster then we were when we arrived. How much has our V02 Max improved? I couldn’t tell you, but what I can tell you is that our basketball skill level has increased dramatically… \r\n \r\nWe’ve been playing basketball nearly every afternoon as warm-up for lifting weights in the evenings and for clearing lactate from the morning’s interval workout. The first few games were a little low on the skill scale but things have changed… \r\n \r\n
\n The Author, Simmons vs. Koos. Shadows.
\r\n \r\nBelow is a scouting report of the crew: \r\n \r\nANDY NEWELL- \r\nIn his own words, “Its like this... normal dudes don’t know how to play. I’d rather look good and lose then look bad and win. Dunk before lay-up, dribble before passing.” Newell brings streetball style to the league with his globetrotter like dribbling in the backcourt. He is a valuable addition to any team as he has been known to make a few outside shots. His only problem on the court is that each time he makes a shot it seems his right leg gets a little bit shorter causing him to ‘L-I-M-P like a P-I-M-P’. \r\n \r\nCHRIS COOK- \r\nCook slashes and dashes his way to the hoop and also has a solid outside game, reminiscent of former Milwaukee Buck Sam Cassell. The only player on the court sporting actual basketball shorts and Air Jordan sweatbands, the only thing missing from Cook’s game is a pair of high top shoes and a non-Norwegian teammate (Cook always seems to be paired with the Norwegian duo of Loefshus and Nystad). \r\n \r\n
\n N.T.H.B.L. Motto: To Cool To Jump.
\r\n \r\nTORIN KOOS- \r\nKoos is the heaviest player on the court, combine that with a solid vertical jump and some seriously sharp elbows and you’ve got a player that is sure to crash his way to a rebound or two. Koos also brings street cred to the game, being the only player in the league to have been a victim of gang violence during a pickup game in South Salt Lake (no joke). Notably, he also owns the “And 1 Mix Tape Vol. 5” DVD and styles his offensive attack (which is pure violence) after Hot Sauce and Jerome Bettis. \r\n \r\nANDREW JOHNSON- \r\nJohnson is deadly from outside six feet with the one-handed prayer shot. He shoots from the hip, in the air, and doesn’t even need to look at the basket to make it happen. When he gets hot he is unstoppable. Johnson preaches ball movement and runs an active passing game reminiscent of USA Basketball 2004. \r\n \r\nPETE VORDENBERG- \r\nSneaky Pete is the only player on the court who fully understands the complexity of the give-and-go offense. When Pete gets hot he smokes like a SoCal brush fire and when his shot’s not on he can pass like a like it’s a fulltime job. \r\n \r\nTROND NYSTAD- \r\nAs a Norwegian, little can be expected from Nystad’s basketball game. He has a dangerous shot from within three feet as long as no one is guarding him. Don’t look for Trond to drive to the hole, he only dribbles if he has to- relying heavily on an active passing game. Watch out for Nystad under the basket, he can bring down the boards like a champ. \r\n \r\nVIDAR LOEFSHUS- \r\nVidar, also a Norwegian, has little to no basketball skill. He has a mean double dribble and has been known to complete several passes. A true liability, no one on the court is safe if the ball is in Vidar’s hands. \r\n \r\n
\n Cook watches, Newell Limp'n, Simmons vs. Koos... again.
