Life in the WI...
Life in the WI… \r\n \r\nBy Chris Cook \r\n \r\nWell, since Newell gave an incredibly accurate description of the land down under, I decided to let everyone know what’s shaking in the WI. \r\n \r\nAfter arriving home, I decided that the first and foremost thing I need to do is get out on the lake and get in a solid day of waterskiing. This operation took two days of holding out for good weather, but the third day was a real winner, air temp 70, winds calm, and the water had a little ripple, perfect to not scorch the dogs when taking on the enduro footin’ runs. After borrowing a few new toys from the crew, such as a brand new wakeboard and wakeskate, we took it on. \r\n \r\nThe wakeskate, (a wakeboard without bindings and smaller) was a new endeavor for myself, providing some quality entertainment for both myself, and the crew in the boat. After hours of crashing and boosting wake to wake, I decided to strap into the wakeboard, and whip some big threes. This decision was simply justified due to the fact some of our friends were up with an official wakeboard towboat. Needless to say, the wake this boat was throwing could rival some of the small waves we conquered in New Zealand. After getting our fill of extreme water sports, we went back to the basics, slalom buoy runs and some quality footin’. \r\n \r\nSince school has started, and the lake has only a handful of year-round residents, the lake is empty, giving us that feeling of having our own private lake. With perfect water, throwing down some tight turns on the slalom ski is always hot. Especially, when you avoid crashing, tumbling through the wakes at 50+mph is not fun. Naturally, you have to finish the day out with some solid footin’ runs, including the west bay whip, a few wake crosses, and fighting off exhaustion to make it back to the drop ski. When all was said and done, the day was cashed, as was I, but when in the WI there is nothing I would rather be doing. \r\n \r\nAs for training, Darth Vidar had us doing intervals what seemed to be every other day, but at sea level you can really wheel them out and feel fast. Besides, when you are finished with that its back out on the lake with the crew. As my trip ends though, I have to take the boat out which is a mighty sad day, however this means that fall is here, the Pack are playing real games, and winter is around the corner. Game on. \r\n \r\n
\n Dual footin', west bay whip style. Chris Cook on right.
