News from the Commish...
News... \r\n \r\nThe annual FIS Congress is being held this week in Miami, Florida. \r\n \r\nAt this "meeting of the minds" of international ski racing all facets of racing will be discussed. However, of most importance to most American skiers will be the topic of possibly adding a second weekend of FIS marathon racing in the US. \r\n \r\nThe FIS representatives will discuss laying the ground work for another FIS Marathon Cup race in the US, in addition to the American Birkebeiner, starting in the 2006 season. Specifically targeted at this point is Marquette's Noquemenon Marathon. Team Today will give more details soon! \r\n \r\nIn other marathon news, it's looking more and more likely that Royal Gorge's Gold Rush could serve as the Marathon National Championships for the 2005 season. The biggest changes that this would make from the racer's perspective is the timing and, for the women, the distance. The Gold Rush is in mid-to late March, whereas Nationals have traditionally been concluded in January. Also, the women's marathon chamionships will also be a 50 kilometer, rather than 30, if the Gold Rush does indeed host. \r\n \r\nThat's all for now. Stay tuned for more soon! \r\n \r\n \r\nTeam Today is a non-profit organization run by, and for, the athletes of the US Cross-country team. The USST is run on a shoestring budget, and our increasing success at the international level is making for increasing demand on our ever-limited resources.
