Are you a fan of XC skiing?
When the snow falls do you dream about fresh corduroy and the cut tracks?
Do you love to head into the quiet and stillness of the now-laden woods on a pair of skinny skis?
Do you obsess about your wax, integrating temperature, humidity and recommendations into your personal formula and matrix?
Do you head to the local trails every weekend to pass on the beauty of XC in a Kids Ski program?
As fans of XC skiing we don’t crowd into stadiums of thousands or buy tickets worth hundreds to enjoy our sport. And only rarely do we use the parking lot to tailgate. But that makes us no less passionate. Rather, in our excitement, we pack it up, put it on and head out-for the morning, the day, the weekend, or for the season.
But that sometimes is our problem, isn’t it? We head out and not in. We disappear into the woods and are not heard or seen by anyone but other skiers for some time. And when we do reappear it is the warm glow of exertion and a toque that tells the world where we’ve been and, in truth, those serve more as a secret handshake between the converted than a pronouncement to the masses.
But because we head out and not in to enjoy our sport we often relegate our collective voice to that same silence we head out to enjoy. Because we don’t rise together as a sea of green and gold or undulate as a wave of navy and silver noise the voice of our enthusiasm, our excitement, our passion sits silent in the coliseum of sport in this country.
On some levels this may sit just fine but on a few important levels it simply won’t do. Numbers talk and, thus, so must we.
The time has come to stand up and be counted.
As individuals a Let us stand up and raise a collective voice together.
To do this Team Today has taken the next step in raising awareness for XC skiing. We are proud to offer to all a place from which to raise that voice, on which to stand up and be counted. allin.teamtoday Simply visit, sign up and be counted as a part of the XC community. There is no cost and never will be. There are no strings attached. We ask nothing of you but to sign up and be counted. And in doing so offer to you the opportunity to be a part of it all. Join a group. Create a group. Share your pictures, videos, knowledge, experience and love of XC skiing. Start a blog. Participate in forums. Use the groups as a private discussion for your club’s boards. Whatever but let your imagination go. In deed, I think the preferred nomenclature would be to hijack it. But regardless of what capacity it holds for you, sign up. Stand up and be counted. For the good of our sport.
So here it is, we offer it you at the portal on the left.
All in.
